April2023 - One Man, One Cross, And A World That Was Changed Forever

One Man

(Matt 1:21) "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS for He will save His people from their sins."

    • No man was born like this man. Isa 7:14, Psalm 51:5
    • No man lived like this man. Heb 4:15
    • No man died like this man. Rom 5:8
    • No man rose from the dead like this man. Rev 1:18
    • No man was given a name like this man. Phil 2:8-11, Acts 4:12

One Cross

There were many crosses in Roman times, but there was no cross like this cross! (Matt 26:39) "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." The cross of Christ stands at the dividing of all history. It also stands at the crossroads of eternity for every human being. Jesus’ last words on the cross were, "It is finished". (John 19:28-30) What did He mean?

    1. To Jesus it meant fulfillment. "I have finished the work which You {Father} have given Me to do." (John 17:4)
    2. To God the Father it meant satisfaction. The just demands of a righteous God were met. (Rom 6:23, 2 Cor 5:21)
    3. To Satan it meant judgment. Jesus crushed his head and stripped him of his power. (Gen 3:15, Col 2:14-15)
    4. To the Sinner it said: sacrifices have come to an end, the supreme price has been paid. (John 1:29, Rom 10:9-10)
    5. To the Saint it meant: you are free and empowered to be who you were created to be and do what you were created to do. (Rom 8:2, 1Cor 15:57)

A World That Was Changed Forever

That day on Golgotha the world was changed forever. The old carol put it this way: “The thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices; for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.” To a sin-weary world, the cross of Christ was the dawn of a bright new day. To the storm-tossed pilgrim, it is a beacon of hope on a happy shore. To the death-row prisoner it is freedom and deliverance. To the broken it is healing. To the lost, it is the way home.

To all people all over the world it means that, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
